Responsibilities & Context

Position Title:

Security Guard
Reports to: Project Manager / Lead / Coordinator
Duty Location: Ibba / Maridi - South Sudan
Contract Type: Regular
Duration: 12 Months
Employment Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary: According to YAH's Salary Policy
Vacancy Validity: 11th August 2025 to 29th August 2025

Purpose of the Role:
To ensure the safety and security of SASA! Together premises, staff, participants, and assets by maintaining a visible presence, monitoring access, and responding to incidents. The role supports a protective environment aligned with feminist values and safeguarding principles.

 

Key Responsibilities

Premises Security & Patrols

  • Monitor entry and exit points to ensure only authorized personnel access the premises
  • Conduct regular patrols of office, guesthouse, and activity areas
  • Inspect doors, windows, gates, and locks for security
  • Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, or emergencies

Surveillance & Incident Reporting

  • Operate surveillance systems and report irregularities
  • Maintain daily logs of activities, visitor entries, and incidents
  • Assist in investigations of theft, vandalism, or unauthorized access
  • Liaise with local law enforcement or emergency services

Event & Staff Safety

  • Provide security support during trainings, meetings, and community events
  • Escort staff or guests during late hours or in high-risk areas
  • Support crowd control and enforce safety protocols
  • Enforce safeguarding and anti-harassment policies

Equipment & Emergency Preparedness

  • Ensure fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency exits are accessible
  • Monitor and report any tampering or malfunction of security equipment
  • Participate in safety drills and emergency response planning

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school certificate or equivalent
  • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or military preferred
  • Basic knowledge of public safety and security operations
  • Ability to remain calm and act decisively in emergencies
  • Physical fitness and stamina for patrol duties
