Position Details

Title: Institutional Strengthening Officer – SASA! Together Program
Reports to: Project Lead / Coordinator
Location: Ibba / Maridi – South Sudan
Contract Type: Regular
Duration: 12 Months
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary: According to YAH's Salary Policy
Vacancy Validity: 11th August 2025 to 29th August 2025

 

Purpose of the Role

To lead and support institutional allies—such as schools, health centers, religious institutions, and local government offices—in adopting and integrating SASA! Together principles into their policies, practices, and culture to prevent violence against women and girls (VAWG) and promote gender equality.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Engagement

  • Build partnerships with key institutions and formalize collaboration agreements
  • Facilitate institutional assessments to identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for change
  • Co-develop institutional strengthening strategies and action plans with allies

Capacity Building

  • Train institutional staff on SASA! Together phases (Start, Awareness, Support, Action)
  • Mentor institutional allies to lead internal change processes and influence leadership
  • Support allies in organizing internal campaigns, dialogues, and policy reviews

Systems Strengthening

  • Guide institutions in integrating gender-sensitive policies and safeguarding protocols
  • Promote inclusive practices that address power dynamics and support survivors
  • Encourage institutional ownership of GBV prevention and response mechanisms

Monitoring & Learning

  • Use SASA! Together Learning & Assessment tools to track institutional progress
  • Document success stories, challenges, and lessons learned
  • Collaborate with M&E teams to evaluate impact and adapt strategies

Coordination & Advocacy

  • Link institutional efforts with community activism and broader SASA! Together programming
  • Represent the organization in inter-agency and advocacy forums
  • Support allies in lobbying for policy change and resource allocation

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Public Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in institutional development, GBV prevention, or organizational change
  • Proven ability to work with formal institutions and influence systems-level change
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and relationship-building skills
  • Familiarity with SASA! Together or similar social norm change methodologies
