WASH Officer
Location: Wau County, South Sudan
Reports to: Field Coordinator – Wau
Matrix Line Manager: WASH Coordinator

Purpose of the Role:
To provide technical support for both hardware and software components of WASH projects, including water facility construction/rehabilitation, hygiene promotion, and community mobilization using participatory methodologies such as CLTS, PHAST, and CHAST.

 

Key Responsibilities

Technical Implementation

  • Develop and execute work plans for timely project delivery
  • Review and supervise water system designs and ensure functionality
  • Monitor water supply and assess community needs
  • Participate in BoQ and design development for WASH infrastructure
  • Supervise contractors and ensure quality standards are met
  • Conduct water quality testing and disease surveillance

Software Components

  • Lead hygiene awareness and home improvement campaigns
  • Train WASH technicians, hygiene promoters, and community health clubs
  • Support community mobilization and capacity building

Reporting & Compliance

  • Contribute to weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Verify goods before distribution and ensure proper documentation
  • Provide regular field updates to management
  • Ensure adherence to Islamic Relief Worldwide standards and humanitarian principles
